QUẢNG NINH — Construction on Cửa Lục Bridges 1 and 3 is planned to start by the end of this month in Quảng Ninh Province.

The two projects were capitalised VNĐ3.852 trillion (US$163.9 million) under the management of Quảng Ninh Civil and Industrial Work Project Management Board.

The investment was extracted from the provincial budget.

The projects included two bridges designed with six lanes for maximum speeds of 60km per hour and other items such as intersections, sewers, sidewalks and lighting systems.

The bridges across Cửa Lục Bay have high clearance of 40m above sea level.

The 5-span Cửa Lục Bridge 1 with a total length of 4.2km and width of 33.1m will connect Cái Lân-Việt Hưng Industrial Zone to the National Highway 279 in Lê Lợi Commune of Hạ Long City.

Cửa Lục Bridge 3 is 2.84km long and 34.1m wide with three spans linking FLC residential area in Hà Khánh Ward and the National Highway 279 in Thống Nhất Commune of Hạ Long City.

The two bridges, which are key projects of the province this year, are expected to be completed in 2022.

The two bridges will contribute to the development and expansion of urban space in order to promote investment into industrial zones and residential areas in Hạ Long City as well as push up socio-economic development of the province.

The bridges also help to reduce traffic flow through Bãi Cháy Bridge and the National Highway 18 in Hạ Long City.

In particular, the two bridges will help promote the forest-sea tourism chain in the area.

At present, the ground clearance for the projects is underway and compensation rates have been presented to the households affected by the projects. — VNS
