HÀ NỘI — Security forces at Nội Bài International Airport have intercepted an American man for carrying guns. The US passenger had flown to Việt Nam from Taiwan and was transiting to Laos.

Tiền Phong (Vanguard) newspaper reported that the security forces discovered the case at the checked baggage liaison area, T2 passenger terminal, at Nội Bài International Airport.

Aviation security forces checked the baggage of passenger L.S, who took flight BR397 from Taoyuan International Airport (Taiwan) to Nội Bài airport, and was to board the connecting QV312 flight to Wattay International Airport (Laos).

Security forces seized several detachable guns and three plastic boxes containing 200 bullets.

The 51-year-old passenger has an American citizenship.

At the time of inspection, the passenger failed to show any papers related to the guns and bullets.

The passenger voluntarily handed over the items to the functional agencies for handling, according to regulations.

A day later, Nội Bài airport security force discovered another baggage belonging to this passenger (planned to move to Laos), with three detachable guns and 450 bullets.

The security force decided to seize and hand over all material evidences to the functional agencies for handling, according to regulations.

The US Constitution allows people to keep and carry weapons without breaking the law. However, Việt Nam law does not allow possession of guns.

According to the Civil Aviation Administration of Việt Nam, weapons or equipment designed to injure or threaten human life or confusing objects are not permitted on board. — VNS
