HCM CITY — Two foreigners, Ravi Barkash, 27, an Indian national, and Moon Atfri, 31, from America, were recently arrested and charged with stealing a motorbike, said the HCM City’s police on Saturday.

Police report that at about midnight on March 21, Grabbike motorbike taxi driver L.Đ.T, 31, a resident of Nhà Bè District, received a service request on his smartphone.

T drove to the Vườn Thư Giãn restaurant in the district’s Nguyễn Hữu Thọ Street, where he saw two foreign men standing beside a Nouvo motorbike in front of the restaurant.

T was handing a helmet to one of the men when he was attacked with electronic pliers. He ran to a nearby area, where he reportedly fainted.

T woke up later and discovered his motorbike had been stolen. He reported the theft to the police.

By noon on March 21, the two suspects were located in a hotel on Lê Văn Lương Street in Nhà Bè District.

They were arrested on the night of March 24. T’s motorbike – whose license plate had been altered – and the electronic pliers, were found at the hotel.

The suspects admitted to committing the robbery. Police said Ravi Barkash had stolen the motorbike. -VNS
