BẮC GIANG — The Bắc Giang Province’s Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union and the provincial Youth Federation have presented Volunteer Awards to 11 individuals and organisations, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 'Summer Volunteer Campaign'.

The union and federation also gave the 'October 15 Award' to a total of 12 individuals.

The award is from the Việt Nam Youth Federation given to individuals with outstanding achievements in union work and youth movements.

Alongside these, ten exemplary young individuals were also given the 'Beautiful Youth' award.

The awards aim to honour, encourage and promote the achievements of outstanding individuals and groups, who have made significant contributions to volunteer work in the community.

Secretary of the provincial Youth Union and President of the provincial Youth Federation Thân Trung Kiên, said that 25 years ago, the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Central Youth Union officially launched the nationwide youth volunteer movement.

Over the past quarter century, remarkable results were achieved by youth union, the young federation, youth volunteers and organisations across the country, contributing to local economic and social development, as well as helping to lift disadvantaged areas.

In Bắc Giang Province, the movement began with two volunteer teams, comprising just 50 members.

Today, the province boasts hundreds of regular volunteer teams with millions of volunteers participating across different sectors.

Acting Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Sơn, praised the achievements of the campaign over the past 25 years.

He commended the contributions of young people, students and the youth union and federation across the province.

He further urged the youth union and federation to continue treating the campaign as a vital political activity to strengthen the organisation and its apparatus.

Through the volunteer movement, he said, it is possible to identify and nurture outstanding talents for the youth union, providing high-quality human resources for local Party and Government officials.

He called for continued efforts to foster volunteer movements that transformed the energy of youth into action, inspiring young people to fully harness the potential of their youth and contribute to the nation’s progress as it entered a new era.— VNS
