HCM CITY — The Việt Nam National University-HCM City and the National University of Singapore have signed a memorandum of understanding for co-operation in training and scientific research.
It provides a pathway for students who have completed the first three years of their bachelor’s programme at VNU-HCMC to obtain a master’s degree at NUS.
Speaking at the signing memory held last week, Aaron Thean, deputy president and provost at NUS, said students of VNU-HCMC could transfer to NUS and would receive a bachelor’s degree from their Vietnamese university and a master’s from NUS.
Outstanding students could then get a scholarship for a four-year NUS doctoral programme, he added.
VNU-HCM chancellor Vũ Hải Quân said the two sides plan to prioritise the implementation of integrated training programmes in key training areas, including semi-conductors, artificial intelligence, bio-technology, and bio-medicine.
They have also agreed to develop research co-operation, exchange lecturers and build and implement training programmes for improving leadership skills for Vietnamese students.
They will foster research exchange opportunities and co-operation in areas of common interest; academic materials, teaching, scientific research, and academic exchange; and opportunities for technology commercialisation.
They will also jointly organise and participate in academic and scientific activities such as seminars and conferences. — VNS
