Local residents get free health care from Korean doctors

QUẢNG NGÃI — South Korea Doosan Enerbility Vietnam (Doosan Vina), and doctors from Chung-Ang University Hospital, have provided free medical examination, consultation, and medicine to 1,500 people in Bình Sơn and Trà Bồng districts, and sponsoring an X-ray digital radiography system for Bình Sơn Medical Centre in the province during the 13th charity medical programme.

Doosan Vina said the programme, which began on January 15, aims at giving medicines for the patients on paediatrics, internal medicine, orthopaedic trauma and family medicine as in previous years, and donating medical equipment to local medical centres with a total value of about VNĐ1.9 billion (US$76,000) including an X-ray digital radiography system worth $21,970.

A group of 18 CAU doctors and nurses along with support staff from Doosan Vina also offered free medical examinations and consultations for 350 children in the two districts.

A report from Doosan Vina unveiled that the annual charity medical programme, implemented by Doosan Vina and CAU, has provided free examinations to 28,000 people in two provinces of Quảng Ngãi and Quảng Nam since 2009.

It said the programme also helped bring 22 children to Korea for surgery on congenital heart defects, cleft lip and palate, and 85 elderly people who had cataract surgery at the local hospitals.

Within the framework of the program, from 2018 until now, Doosan Vina and CAU have also donated medical equipment with a total value of nearly VNĐ6.5 billion ($260,000) to Quảng Ngãi Provincial General Hospital, and Paediatrics and Obstetrics Hospital.

In addition, the two organisations also sent Vietnamese doctors and nurses to CAU’s headquarters in Korea for training to improve their professional expertise. VNS
