QUẢNG NGÃI — Responding to "Áo Dài Week", the Women's Union of Quảng Ngãi Province has organised the programme "Áo Dài zero đồng" to bring joy to many poor and disadvantaged women who now have a chance to own the traditional dress.

The event was organised to celebrate International Women's Day (March 8).

Nguyễn Thị Nga, a 58-year-old farmer from Đức Hoà Commune, said that she never had a chance to wear an áo dài. Thanks to the event, now she has a chance to wear it.

Nguyễn Thị Tâm, 68, said that when she heard about the event, she spent her free time in the morning to choose an áo dài for herself to wear on the occasion of March 8.

According to the organisers, from March 6, the Women's Union of Quảng Ngãi Province has received nearly 300 sets of áo dài donated by women in the province. By March 7, dozens of women came to try on clothes.

Huỳnh Thị Sương, Vice President of the Women's Union of Quảng Ngãi Province, said: "The programme aims to support women in difficult circumstances so they can have the traditional Vietnamese áo dài.

The event contributes to preserving and promoting Vietnamese culture, and at the same time, arouses the love and responsibility of women in community, thereby honoring and preserving the values ​​of the traditional dress. VNS
