ĐÀ NẴNG — A South Korean tourist in Đà Nẵng was charged VNĐ2.1 million (US$88.90) for a taxi ride, an price the driver inflated to ten times what it should have been.
The woman was later refunded the amount she overpaid, thanks to the Đà Nẵng Tourist Support Center and local police.
She arrived at Đà Nẵng from South Korea on December 12 and hailed a taxi to drive her from the airport to the hotel.
However, her taxi driver massively overcharged her.
The tourist reported the incident to Đà Nẵng Police Department, and the driver was quickly identified.
It took him over a month to fully return the money that he had overcharged the woman.
As the tourist had already left Việt Nam and returned to South Korea, the Đà Nẵng Tourist Support Center reached out to her to return the money.
The money was fully returned to the tourist on February 9.
