HCM CITY — The HCM City Department of Science and Technology on Tuesday presented the 2021 I-Star Awards to 10 individual, business and organisational start-ups for their innovative solutions and products.
The fourth edition of the awards involved four categories: innovative start-ups, innovative solutions, media work, and start-up and innovative individuals and organisations that make positive contributions to the community.
In the first category, the Star Global Expert Solutions JSC won the award for its ‘3D/360 intelligent interactive web/app’ solution.
The second category had three winners: the ‘Đi chợ giúp dân” (Shop for others) website, career counselling app JobWay, and urban traffic jam warning system Utraffic.
Three media works won awards in the third category.
The Nguyễn Tất Thành University Innovation Incubator Centre, the HCM City University of Economics’ Institute of Innovation and Zone Startups Việt Nam won prizes in the fourth category.
The city saw a record 37 venture capital deals worth more than US$1.1, which accounted for 60 per cent of the country’s total.
Given as part of the annual national technology, innovation and start-up festival TECHFEST and 2021 HCM City Week of Innovation, Startups & Entrepreneurship, the awards recognised outstanding innovations and start-ups.
The winners were chosen from 310 entries.
The HCM City Week of Innovation, Startups & Entrepreneurship featured more than 20 start-up and innovation events that were also held online and attracted more than 6,000 visitors. — VNS
