PM welcomes US trade representative

PM Nguyễn Xuân Phúc hosted a reception in Hà Nội on Saturday for US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer who is in Việt Nam for a meeting of the 21-nation Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

HÀ NÔI  - PM Nguyễn Xuân Phúc hosted a reception in Hà Nội on Saturday for US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer who is in Việt Nam for a meeting of the 21-nation Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

Việt Nam and the US had enjoyed sound trade relations with robust achievements, the PM said, adding that Việt Nam supports free trade on the basis of fairness and mutual benefits and treasures economic relations with the US.

He highlighted the crucial US role in the Asia-Pacific region’s economic co-operation, hoping the US would promote its cooperation activities, particularly in economy and trade, to contribute to regional and global prosperity.
In a meeting with the US-ASEAN Business Council, numerous US companies expressed interest in doing business in 
Việt Nam thanks to local authorities’ favourable conditions for foreign enterprises, he said.
The Government leader spoke highly of the close coordination with the United States on hosting events of APEC 2017.

For his part, Lighthizer underlined that Việt Nam is his first destination as the US Trade Representative, adding that the US always attaches importance to trade and economic development with the Southeast Asian country.
Extending his thanks to PM Phúc for his significant contributions to boosting trade cooperation between the two countries, Lighthizer said the Vietnamese leader’s upcoming visit to the US would elevate collaboration between the two sides.
He promised to cooperate with Vietnamese authorities to enhance cooperation projects, helping develop bilateral trade and economic ties.-VNS
