HÀ NỘI — Russian President Vladimir Putin paid tribute to President Hồ Chí Minh at his mausoleum in Hà Nội on Thursday during his state visit to Việt Nam.

He was accompanied by Lê Hoài Trung, Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations.

President Putin laid a wreath at the mausoleum in commemoration of President Hồ Chí Minh, the hero of national liberation and a great man of culture of Việt Nam.

He also laid flowers at the Monument for Heroic Martyrs on Bắc Sơn Street near the mausoleum.

This is the fifth visit to Việt Nam by President Putin. The State visit, made at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam's Central Committee Nguyễn Phú Trọng, takes place at a time when the two nations are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations between Việt Nam and Russia this year and on the threshold of the 75th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties in 2025.

The visit this time holds an extremely important significance, further deepening the Việt Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in all fields, especially in the context that the two countries are striving to realise the joint statement on the comprehensive strategic partnership vision to 2030. — VNS
