HCM CITY — Thousands of people are expected to join the 14th Lawrence S.Ting Marathon for charity to be organised in HCM City by the Phú Mỹ Hưng Development Corporation on January 12.
Dubbed “Bước Chân Chia Sẻ” (Sharing Footsteps) this year, the race will begin at 6.30am at The Crescent area in the Phú Mỹ Hưng City Centre in District 7, and will be shown live on HTV.
The event is aimed at raising funds to help disadvantaged people during the Lunar New Year, and it helps spread a “sharing spirit” in the community.
Since it began in 2006, the Lawrence S.Ting Marathon has attracted 182,000 participants and raised nearly VNĐ29 billion from corporates and individuals.
This year, it has so far raised VNĐ3 billion.
Through local funds for the poor, the marathon programme has provided financial support to many families. Thanks to this, their living standards have improved. — VNS
