HÀ NỘI — The culture ministry will host the National Traditional Instrumentalists Contest in September in the Central Highlands city of Buôn Ma Thuột, Đắk Lắk Province.
Participants will include individuals and collectives who teach and perform in both State and private art troupes and training institutions nationwide.
There will be four categories namely Category for Group Artists from Traditional Professional Vocal Art Troupes; Category for Group Artists from Music Troupes & Music Institutes; Category for Solo Artists from State-owned and non-State Music Troupes & Institutes; and Category for Solo Artists from Traditional Vocal Art Troupes.
The event is organised by the ministry’s Department for Performing Arts and the Việt Nam Musicians Association and other agencies.
It aims to honour the artists and preserve traditional art, according to organisers.
The jury will include seven members who are prestigious musicians, researchers and art managers and have contributed a lot to the development of performing arts, especially performing traditional instruments. — VNS
