Spring and love are the hottest themes for music videos (MV) that have been released this month to welcome Tết (Lunar New Year), which begins February 5.

HCM CITY — Spring and love are the hottest themes for music videos (MV) that have been released this month to welcome Tết (Lunar New Year), which begins February 5.  

The DVD, Gala Nhạc Việt-Vui Như Tết (Vietnamese Music Gala-Happy Tết), features music and theatre performances of nearly 50 singers, dancers, musicians and theatre artists.

The artists, in traditional Vietnamese áo dài, stage songs, dances and theatrical performances in praise of country, soldiers, love and Spring.

Pop stars Hồ Ngọc Hà and Thu Minh sing folk songs featuring traditional culture and lifestyles, while young singers Ái Phương, Bảo Anh and Erik together perform pop, dance and electronic music.

Top hits such as Ước Nguyện Đầu Xuân (Spring Wishes), Tình Duyên Đầu Năm (Love in Tết) and Đi Bên Em Mùa Xuân (Living with You in Spring), are featured.

“Our artists worked hard to have quality music and images for the DVD Gala Nhạc Việt-Vui Như Tết. Through the album, we hope to send best wishes to Vietnamese at home and abroad during Tết,” said pop star Hà, owner of HNH Production, one of the album’s producers.

In the DVD, famous comedic artists Trấn Thành, Ngọc Giàu and Ốc Thanh Vân perform two and three-act comedies highlighting love and traditional family values. 

Featured performances include contemporary dance groups from HCM City Youth Cultural House with designs by top fashion designers.

Veteran singer Đan Trường worked with his producer, HT Production, in filming his new MV Mưa Trên Cuộc Tình (Love in Rain), released last week. The work’s music combines pop and dance.

Trường and 20 dancers, including fashion models, performed in Fenghuang Ancient Town, a famous tourist site located between Hunan Province and Guizhou Province in China.

”I spent VNĐ1.3 billion (US$56,000) on production, and I worked with my producer, scriptwriter, fashion stylist and choreographer to combine music with beautiful images,” said Trường. who has more than 20 years of experience in the industry.  

Another album is Ly Rượu Mừng (A Glass of Wine in Tết), a production by talented singer Đức Tuấn. In the MV, Tuấn performs Ly Rượu Mừng, a 70-year-old song written by well-known composer Phạm Đình Chương. 

Before launching, Tuấn spent three years on recording and shooting. He used 200 singers, dancers and theatre artists to highlight Vietnamese culture and lifestyle during Tết

The MV became one of the top hits for Tết since its release a week ago, with its visuals leaving the strongest impression on fans.

Young singers like Hà Thu, Ái Phương, Chi Pu and Đức Phúc are not an exception to the trend. They have released new MVs with the theme of Tết, attracting millions of fans on online music channels. Several videos have used 3D technology. — VNS
