NAM ĐỊNH – Several precious antiques were presented to the local museum in the northern province of Nam Định on April 14.

The ancient items include nine stone axes, 41 bronze items from the period of the Đông Sơn culture (1,000 BC–100 AD), 12 items from the first to the 16th century, one 18th-century ceramic incense burner and an original print of the Thiên Trường Temple seal.

According to Nguyễn Văn Thư, director of the museum, all the objects are important for research and preservation. The objects will help cultural researchers, historians and students in the province understand the typical features of Việt Nam’s cultures from different historical periods.

The antiques will be verified to ensure all the requirements for preservation are met before being displayed to the public.

In recent years, the Nam Định Museum has received over 600 antiques and relics donated by organisations and individuals, which are of various kinds and ages and are highly valued in terms of history, culture, science and the arts. — VNS
