LÂM ĐỒNG — The Tây Nguyên (Central Highlands) province of Lâm Đồng and its people are the themes of a photo contest launched by the HCM City Photography Association this week.
The event, Nét Đẹp Lâm Hà- Hồ Gia Trang (The Beauty of Lâm Đồng Province), aims to highlight the history, traditional culture and lifestyle of Tây Nguyên people living in Lâm Đồng. Themes of landscapes and the natural world such as rocks, forests, lakes, and waterfalls are also included.
The organiser also welcomes photos on the daily life of ethnic minority groups, such as the Thái, Mạ, Mông and K’ho.
Amateur and professional photographers nationwide are encouraged to enter the contest.
Panoramic and freestyle photos in colour, and black and white are encouraged. Traditional methods and photoshopped photos are accepted.

“From the contest’s photos, we hope to introduce Lâm Đồng Province and its people worldwide, and promote local tourism,” said Đoàn Hoài Trung, chairman of the city’s Photography Association.
Lâm Đồng is seeking to attract 9.7 million tourists this year. Domestic overnight visitors are expected to reach 7.6 million while international tourists will reach 550,000, according to the provincial Tourism Development Committee.
The province has 82 travel agents, including 44 for international travel and 38 for domestic travel.
It has more than 110 tourist attractions, including Tuyền Lâm Lake National Tourist Area, Prenn Lake Tourist Area and Sa Pung - Bảo Lộc Mountains.
The contest’s entries should have been taken this year. They can be a single photo or a group of photos (no more than eight) with informative captions.
The winning photos will be exhibited in HCM City and Lâm Đồng Province.
The organiser will give different prizes worth VNĐ200 million (US$9,000).
