HCM CITY - The new animated film about the robot cat Doraemon titled "Doraemon: Nobita and the Symphony of the Earth" has scored big at the Vietnamese box office.

According to statistics from Box Office Việt Nam, the film has grossed over VNĐ109 billion since its release on May 24.

The animated work featuring the beloved robot cat holds the top spot in the Vietnamese box office revenue rankings on a daily basis.

"Doraemon: Nobita and the Symphony of the Earth" is the 43rd installment in the 2D Doraemon film series, released annually, and has become an eagerly anticipated event for fans every year.

The film's plot revolves around Nobita learning to play the flute - an instrument he's terrible at - in preparation for a concert at school.

Intrigued by Nobita's strange "No" note, the mysterious girl Micca invites Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends to "Farre”, which is a palace of music located on a planet where music is converted into energy.

In order to save this palace, Micca is seeking a "virtuoso" - a music master to perform alongside her.

With the magical gadget "music specialist certificate," Doraemon and his friends select musical instruments and join Micca in a performance, gradually restoring the palace.

However, a terrifying entity threatens to erase all music from the world, approaches dangerously close, posing a threat to the Earth.

Directed by Imai Kazuaki, the film offers a familiar yet engaging story that caters to fans of the mischievous cat Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends.

The film's revenue in the Vietnamese market promises to continue rising in the coming days.

"Doraemon: Nobita and the Earth Symphony" may not be one of the outstanding movies in the 43-part film series of the Doraemon brand. But the fortunate timing of its release coincided with the period when Vietnamese audiences have the habit of going to the cinema, particularly during summer vacations, catering to a diverse target audience including students, families and adults nostalgic for their childhood.

Since its first translation in Vietnam in 1992, up to now, after 32 years, Doraemon is still "an invincible brand in Việt Nam" and is loved across multiple generations.

This brand has been reaching out to the new generation audience through anime, both online streaming and cinema viewings.
