HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam All-Star Team will play BV Borussia Dortmund Legends at Thống Nhất Stadium on September 28 in HCM City.

The match is part of BVB Dortmund's three-day trip to Việt Nam on September 27-29 to promote the True Love – To The Future campaign.

The campaign is organised by Next Media, HCM City’s Youth Union, Dortmund and delegates of German Industry and Commerce in Việt Nam (AHK) to support orphans and children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Next Media planned the True Love and together with Borussia Dortmund, the Youth Union, and other units raises support for orphans affected by COVID-19," said Đỗ Thanh Tùng, deputy general director of Next Media.

"We believe that football can be a connection, a tool for connecting people and spreading messages in society. Through that, the love will come to children with difficulty and help them have more power in the future.”

Vietnamese singers Hoàng Bách and Mỹ Tâm will be the campaign's ambassadors, determined to spread True Love's message. All the profits from the ticket sales will be transferred to the project's fund.

The cash will be sent to the Youth Union after the end of the campaign. Some activities of the campaign, such as fundraisers and visiting schools with orphans, will also be donated.

Among the BVB Legends squad are Julio Cesar, Dedé, Marcel Schmelzer, Norbert Dickel, Evanílson, Kevin Grosskreutz, Jorg Heinrich, Jan Koller, David Odonkor, Patrick Owomoyela, Karl-Heinz Riedle, Miroslav Stevic, Roman Weidenfeller, Ibrahim Tanko, Mladen Petic and Mohamed Zidan.

The host side will include coach Lê Huỳnh Đức, former national players Phạm Văn Quyến, Lê Công Vinh and Lê Quốc Vượng and current players of the national team such as Quế Ngọc Hải, Đỗ Hùng Dũng and Ngô Hoàng Thịnh.

They will be accompanied by top stars in the entertainment industry such as singer-musician Hoàng Bách, rocker Anh Khoa and musician Nguyễn Văn Chung. The All-Stars team also has the presence of YouTuber Cán Cris and world freestyle runner-up Đỗ Kim Phúc.

“Over the past few years, BVB has enjoyed a fruitful and rewarding development in Việt Nam, particularly with a vibrant presence in youth development together with our partner Next Media," said Benedikt Scholz, director of Internationalisation & Commercial Partnerships of BVB.

"Therefore, it is crucial for us to demonstrate how close our relationship is with our partners and fans in Việt Nam. Together with Next Media, we will continue to create success on and off the pitch,” he said.

Meanwhile, BVB’s Managing Director of the Asia Pacific Suresh Letchmanan added: “We as BVB are extremely excited to bring our legendary players to Việt Nam, a significant market for us as BVB in Asia.

"The sheer enthusiasm and love for the game are deeply rooted in the Vietnamese culture, and we are proud and honoured to bring the black and yellow feeling to our fans and supporters in this country. We are confident in delivering a one-of-a-kind experience in Việt Nam and being able to use this as a stepping stone for more success stories in the future.”

Vietnamese fans are incredibly passionate about the Bundesliga. After three years of being screened in Việt Nam, the German league has seen a TV audience growth of more than 900 per cent.

"We are equally committed to fueling this passion, both at the grassroots level by bringing Bundesliga legends and Bundesliga experiences to Việt Nam, but also by supporting the development of the national team, like when the Việt Nam's U17 visited the academies of four Bundesliga clubs, including Borussia Dortmund’s, in a programme designed to offer both players and coaches the chance to enhance their skills," said Kevin Sim, head of Asia Pacific for Bundesliga International.

"Through our partnership with Next Media, fans are captivated by the end-to-end action and non-stop goals that the Bundesliga provides. The Borussia Dortmund Legends’ visit is another great step to inspire young fans and bring German football even closer to Vietnam,” he said.
