Ministry works to tackle traffic accidents

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Transport instructed concerned organisations to make 185 hotspots for traffic accidents safer in the first half of this year.

It plans to fix 46 other hotspots in the last half of this year.

The measurements to the problem include setting up more warning signs and lights in crowed areas and along highways, and building more protective walls along dangerous mountain passes.

Typically, along the Lò Xo Mountain Pass on the Hồ Chí Minh Trail, since last year the ministry has built protective walls and walls made from tyres at places vehicles fall into an abyss.

More cameras were installed and the road surface was widened.

The same measures were conducted on Highway No 6 passing Hòa Bình and Sơn La northern provinces.
