ĐÀ NẴNG — Murky tap water reported by residents in Đà Nẵng in recent days may have been caused by old rusty pipes, according to Hồ Minh Nam, deputy director of Đà Nẵng Clean Water Supply (DAWACO).

Samples taken by DAWACO showed the water met quality standards set by the health ministry and was safe for domestic use and cooking, said the representative.

However, DAWACO would step up quality checks, clean the pipelines and replace the old ones, Nam said.

The Cầu Đỏ River in the city has also recorded high levels of salinity since February 2.

The city’s authorities have asked the DAWACO to operate An Trạch pumping station with the capacity of 210,000 cu.m per day to ensure water supply for the city. VNS
