HÀ NỘI — Two women were killed in a fire that broke out in a house in Hà Nội’s Hai Bà Trưng District in the early hours today.
The victims are 81-year-old Nguyễn Thị Ngọc and her 49-year-old daughter, named Nguyễn Thị Thủy.
The fire started around 2am at the 60sq.m house on Vọng Street.
Tens of firefighters from the Hà Nội Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting and eight fire engines were mobilised to the scene. However, they struggled to get water to the house as it is located deep inside a small alley.
It took firefighters 1.5 hours to put out the fire.
The firefighters managed to rescue a 17-year-old girl who was stuck in the house.
The cause of the fire has not yet been identified. Investigations are underway. — VNS
