Three children among the four killed in another fire tragedy in Hà Nội

HÀ NỘI — Four bodies were found in the aftermath of another tragic fire incident in the capital city Hà Nội on Sunday, including three young children, according to the city's police.

A fire reportedly broke out at 6:22pm today on the fourth floor of a six-storey building on Định Công Hạ Street, Định Công Ward, Hoàng Mai District, when a heavy rain was bearing down on the city after a string of hot and humid days.

Lieutenant General Nguyễn Tuấn Anh, Director of the Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Department, and Lieutenant General Nguyễn Hải Trung, Director of the Hà Nội City Police Department, along with the leaders of the district police and the People's Committee of Hoàng Mai District, were present at the scene to directly oversee the firefighting and rescue efforts.

The blaze was contained by about 8:30pm and firefighters started to get inside to look for trapped victims. The search was concluded around 10:30pm and the firefighting units started to withdraw from the incident site.

The identities of the four bodies found in the burnt building were determined to be N.T.H (born in 1971), N.Đ.Đ.S (born in 2013), N.D.K (born in 2022), and N.T.A (born in 2018), the city's police reported.

The cause of the incident is still being investigated.

The police are also coordinating with Hà Nội and Hoàng Mai District's authorities to visit and support the families of the victims and to address the consequences of the fire.

Just last month, a serious fire at a building in Cầu Giấy District killed 14 people and injured  another three, prompting a city-wide fire safety compliance reviews of all buildings that are used for renting. — VNS
