HÀ NỘI — Chairman of AstraZeneca Vietnam and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) Nitin Kapoor was appointed as a member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by His Majesty King Charles for his outstanding contributions to the health sector and international diplomacy.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the health sector and international diplomacy, Kapoor has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). This prestigious honour was announced in the 2024 King's Birthday Honours List, which was published on June 15, 2024.

"I am deeply honoured to receive this great recognition and I am committed to continuing to promote progress in the health sector and to strengthen international friendships, especially between the UK and Việt Nam. This accolade reflects the collective efforts of my team of colleagues and partners, who have worked relentlessly towards a common goal of sustainable development," said Kapoor.

The official announcement was published in the London Gazette and several mainstream newspapers in the UK, marking the moment of honour for Kapoor as well as emphasising the importance of international cooperation. Kapoor's MBE appointment highlights his role as an inspirational figure for progress in global healthcare initiatives.

It is also a recognition of his outstanding contributions to the health sector and his important role in strengthening the friendship between the UK and Việt Nam. His efforts have fostered a strong health partnership and cooperation between the two countries, contributing to significant progress in the health sector and Việt Nam's FDI economy.

Over the years, Kapoor has received many prestigious awards for his notable contributions to Việt Nam, such as the Friendship Medal from the President and the Commemorative Medal - For the Young Generation Medal from the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union. These titles recognise his efforts in improving universal healthcare, supporting community initiatives and improving the operating environment for international businesses in Việt Nam.

As Chairman of AstraZeneca Vietnam, Kapoor has initiated many impactful health programs in raising awareness, prevention and early detection of chronic diseases in Việt Nam, including developing the 'Health Innovation Network' in partnership with the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association as well as the 'Digital Lung Health' program, with more than 100,000 people being screened for lung disease and lung cancer for free in 2023.

In his role as Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum, Kapoor has been actively engaged in enhancing the business environment in Việt Nam. He has been a vocal advocate for regulatory reforms, simplified visa and work permit processes and sustainable economic policies.
