HCM CITY — The HCM City Transport Department is going to build software to manage and publicise temporary use permits of sidewalks and part of streets in the city.

Ngô Hải Đường, head of the Transport Department's road infrastructure management and exploitation division, spoke at a press conference held by the municipal People’s Committee recently to inform more about collecting fees for the temporary use of streets and sidewalks.

"The software will serve as a management tool expected to ensure transparent governance in urban management in the city," he said.

Accordingly, local residents and organisations can access this software to check information about the exact part of a street and sidewalks that are permitted for temporary use, the use plan, and the corresponding fees, he said.

They can monitor, give feedback and report problems related to this use to agencies issuing the permit or collecting fees.

The Transport Department will collaborate with the people’s committees of all districts and Thủ Đức city to review and announce a list of streets allowed for the temporary use of its sidewalks and parts of its surface for specific functions and activities.

For commercial activities, paid parking lots and other functions, the localities have been asked to check which streets in their assigned locations are eligible for this temporary use, along with the suitable scope for each activity.

The list of these streets must be announced publicly so that implementation measures can be devised depending on the special features of each location. — VNS
