HÀ NỘI — Local and international haematology and health experts gathered at the 2023 Highlights of American Society of Hematology (ASH) in Asia Pacific that opened in Hà Nội on March 10.

Taking place for the first time in Việt Nam, the two-day event was jointly organised by the American Society of Hematology and the Việt Nam Association of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, attracting more than 400 delegates from haematology associations in 13 countries worldwide.

During the event, participants got a comprehensive review of significant scientific updates in clinical and translational hematologic research, learned how these updates directly affect the study and practice of haematology and discovered how new research can be translated into cutting-edge patient care.

President of the Vietnam Association of Hematology and Blood Transfusion Bạch Quốc Khánh said that Việt Nam's haematology and blood transfusion industry constantly makes efforts to apply the world's advances in the diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases.

“We are equipped with a system of modern machinery and equipment to perform diagnostic tests. Most of the latest treatment methods and techniques in the region and in the world are being applied in Việt Nam, such as targeted treatment with the latest drugs, and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Việt Nam has also conducted the national epidemiological survey on congenital hemolytic disease as well as proposed a programme to prevent and control hereditary blood diseases,” said Khánh.
