HCM CITY — The Consulate General of Thailand in HCM City in collaboration with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Thai Business Association in Việt Nam on Monday organised a blood donation drive in response to the nationwide blood-donation campaign Hành Trình Đỏ (Red Journey).
Around 100 units of blood were donated by officials at the consulate, locals and the Thai community living in HCM City and transferred to the HCM City Humanitarian Blood Donation Centre.
Wiraka Moodhitaporn, the Consul General of Thailand in HCM City, said the blood donation drive was part of a range of community activities that the Thai Consulate General has implemented in Việt Nam.
“I am very happy that the Consul General of Thailand and Thai community participated in the Red Journey campaign which marked its tenth anniversary this year. The campaign has made a great contribution to the society, community and the nation,” she said.
On this occasion, the Consul General of Thailand also raised funds to support Thalassemia prevention programmes in Việt Nam.
The Red Journey campaign, which runs from June 2 to July 31, is expected to collect 120,000 units of blood.
It has so far received more than 100,000 units of blood. —VNS
