Hungarian artist to display "West Lake"

Hungarian artist Anna-Maria Ory will showcase her paintings inspired by the Hà Nội’s West Lake in an exhibition titled “HỒ TÂY”, opening Sunday at Đông Phong Art Gallery.

HÀ NỘI — Hungarian artist Anna-Maria Ory will showcase her paintings inspired by the Hà Nội’s West Lake in an exhibition titled “HỒ TÂY”, opening Sunday at Đông Phong Art Gallery.

The painter’s relationship with Vietnamese culture dates back to her childhood, when her parents shared their love for Việt Nam with her. As a student at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, she met several Vietnamese artists who furthered her interest in the country, its people and its art forms.

After her graduation in 2006, she traveled to Hà Nội for the first time, followed by another trip to the capital city and HCM City in 2010 to participate the Việt Nam – Hungary contemporary fine art exhibition. Now having had the chance to stay in Việt Nam from 2016-17, she has become more familiar with the art and culture of Việt Nam, resulting in the paintings that she will unveil on Sunday. The subject and the technique presented in her works reflect both Western and Eastern influences.

The exhibition will open at 5pm on Sunday and run until October 30. Entry is free. Đông Phong Art Gallery is at 3 Lý Đạo Thành Street. — VNS
