HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will be the guest of honour at the 2020 La Habana International Book Fair, as announced by the media centre of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cuba.

As one of the most important cultural events of the year of the Caribbean island country, La Habana International Book Fair will take place from February 6-16.

According to the ministry, the event will create the chance for Cuban readers to have an overview of Việt Nam’s literature, understand and enjoy the culture as well as the customs of the country.

The book fair is also expected to enhance collaboration between Cuban and Vietnamese publishing houses.

The biennial La Habana International Book Fair was first held in 1982 and since 2000, it has been considered the most outstanding publishing and literature festival of Cuba. The event draws the participation of hundreds of publishing houses from around the world.

Besides a book exhibition, the fair also includes a variety of cinematic, arts, musical, literary and historical activities.

Every year, La Habana International Book Fair will honour a writer or renowned cultural figure and an international honoured guest. — VNS
