HÀ NỘI — A jazz concert featuring famous Japanese pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto will be held at Hà Nội’s Opera House on December 10.

Yamamoto and his band will perform his most famous works, including “The Way We Are”, “Autumn in Seattle”, “Misty", "Romeo and Juliet” and “Sound of music Medley" during a musical night themed "Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Live in Concert".

With natural expressions, Yamamoto’s performance is always relaxed and melodious. He is neither overly technical nor serious.

The pianist was born in 1946. He began playing the piano when he was in primary school. In junior high school, he played the trumpet. His interest in jazz began when he first heard Art Blakey’s tunes in the French movie “Les Liaisons Dangereuses”. It inspired him to return to the piano and perfect his technique.

In l973, he established his own band, the Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio, with Isoo Fukui on bass and Tetsujiro Obara on drums. In 1974, he became the main pianist at jazz club Misty in Tokyo.

Three Blind Mice, a well-known record company in the 1970s and 1980s, made him famous with various vinyl records such as "Midnight Sugar". — VNS
