A group of 14 Jrai artisans from the Tây Nguyên (Central Highlands) of Gia Lai will participate in the 2023 Jeonju International Sori Festival, an event for traditional and world music, in Jeollabuk-do Province in South Korea from September 15-24.

Vietnamese contemporary dance Hoàng Hôn (Sunset) will be performed at the Opera House on September 15.

The Pasteur Institute in HCM City in coordination with the French Embassy in Việt Nam and French Consulate General in HCM City have organised a ceremony commemorating the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur’s birth with an exhibition showcasing his life and work.

Thousands of people joined in the UK Festival in downtown Hà Nội over the weekend. They enjoyed music from 911, food, saw some very British things like the Harry Potter platform, a double decker bus and the iconic Mini Cooper car. More people are expected to turn out at a similar event in HCM City this weekend. The events are in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The musicians will play pieces by French composers Camille Saint-Saëns, Claude Debussy, Ernest Chausson, Pablo de Sarasate and Maurice Ravel as well as Vietnamese musician Vũ Việt Anh.

The contest, with the theme “Amazing Kon Tum”, is organised by the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to introduce the landscapes, people, and culture of the Central Highlands to local and international visitors.

At the UK Festival in downtown Hà Nội last weekend, a highlight during the two-day event was British ambassador Iain Frew making scones with Vietnamese chef Phan Anh. The cake is often served with tea as part of the British afternoon tea custom.

Vietnamese teenager Anna Hoàng, who is based in the UK, will represent Việt Nam at the Miss Eco Teen 2023 beauty pageant that is scheduled to take place in Egypt in October.
