Fisheries exhibition opens in HCM City

The Việt Nam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish 2017) opened in HCM City yesterday, seeking to showcase Việt Nam’s aquaculture prowess.

HCM CITY — The Việt Nam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish 2017) opened in HCM City yesterday, seeking to showcase Việt Nam’s aquaculture prowess.

Vietfish, which this year has the slogan “Asia’s Home of Seafood”, has brought together over 200 leading seafood processing and exporting companies in Việt Nam and 15 other countries and territories, including Malaysia, Thailand, China, Japan, the US, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

The products on display at over 350 booths include fresh, frozen, dried and salted seafood and aquaculture farming and processing equipment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vũ Văn Tám said: “Vietfish is a good destination for seafood enterprises in terms of seeking new partners and suppliers and getting updates on the latest technologies.”

The event also provides an important opportunity for seafood firms to showcase their potentials and strengths to business partners around the world, he said.

Participants can also take part in many other activities at the event like cooking demonstrations and fisheries and aquaculture seminars.

Organised by the Việt Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, the expo, on at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre, will run until August 31 and is expected to welcome 16,000 visitors.VNS
