It was a perfect opportunity for many tourists and Da Nang residents to get a firsthand look at the five Gulfstream private jets parked on the Da Nang airstrip. As the most luxurious and expensive airline in the world, with more than 60 years of dominance in the high-end aviation sector, Gulfstream operates over 3,000 private jets for billionaires worldwide.
The five Gulfstream jets that have helped the company gain international fame, including the G600, G500, G650ER, and two G700s, can be identified from a distance by the numbers near their tails.
Holding the world record for flying speed at 1,103 km/h, the G650ER stands out for its ability to fly faster and farther than any aircraft in its weight class. Billionaire Bill Gates arrived in Da Nang on this private jet in March.
The Gulfstream G650ER can accommodate a maximum of seventeen seated passengers or six to eight sleeping passengers. Its tables and chairs can be customized and are ready for any business meeting or wine party. Additionally, there is a cooking area that enables Gulfstream G650ER owners to enjoy life as if they were on the ground; all amenities are bespoke and made with premium materials. This jet line is currently operated by Sun Air—the first luxury general aviation airline in Vietnam and the exclusive representative of Gulfstream in the country.
Notably, two newly launched Gulfstream G700s arrived in Vietnam this time, reflecting the world’s most prestigious airline’s regard for Vietnam as a potential market in Asia. For Gulfstream, launching new products and partnering with Sun Air for market expansion in Vietnam is a significant step in its Asia-Pacific market development strategy.
Besides boasting the tallest, widest, and longest cabin in the industry, the G700 features Ka-band Wi-Fi, the fastest global internet in the air, enabling its business owners to stream, work, and maintain connections with advanced options, whether flying over oceans or icebergs.
The G700 can accommodate up to five flexible living areas, including a luxurious galley exclusive to this jet and an option for a master suite with a shower. The plane also features beds for ten passengers and true circadian lighting that simulates the sunlight of the next time zone, recreating sunrise and sunset through thousands of white and amber LEDs, helping to reduce jet lag.
The simultaneous landing of five luxurious Gulfstream private jets carrying billionaires from around the world to Da Nang further affirms Vietnam’s position as an attractive destination for the world’s super-rich.
Many of the world’s top billionaires, including Bill Gates, Tim Cook, and Jensen Huang, have arrived in Vietnam in recent years. Da Nang and Phu Quoc have also gained fame as wedding destinations for the super-rich, with spending on each high-end event reaching tens of millions of dollars.
Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, stated: “Da Nang, in particular, and many other destinations in Vietnam, in general, are attracting great attention from the rich and super-rich. Da Nang especially has been positioned and fully prepared to create an ecosystem serving luxury and super-luxury customers in the long term.
"The city continues to attract and call for investment, preparing new products and services to best meet the needs of the luxury and super-luxury classes, such as international yachts and high-end commercial centers."
During this visit to Vietnam, Gulfstream guests chose to stay at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, which has been awarded 'World’s Leading Luxury Resort' for three consecutive years and was chosen by leaders at the APEC 2017 Conference and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
The investment and participation of large corporations such as Sun Group have enabled Vietnam to provide the world’s elite with an ecosystem of international-class services and experiences, from five-star resorts and Michelin cuisine to luxurious private jets, creating a significant advantage for Vietnam in attracting high-spending tourists from around the globe.
