Eight categories of the World Travel Awards 2022 call out the names of Sun Group's works

On the evening of November 11th, 2022, within the framework of the World Travel Awards 2022, which took place in the Kingdom of Oman, Sun Group continues to affirm the position of Vietnamese tourism through prestigious awards for projects along three regions of the country.

After the "remarkable" achievement of winning the "Asia's Leading Travel Group" award given in the WTA Asia-Oceania Awards Ceremony held on September 7, 2022, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Sun Group continues to make its mark at the World Travel Awards (WTA) recently held in Oman, with eight awards given to three hotels, resorts, and two entertainment destinations of this corporation.

Three hotels and resorts of Sun Group, namely Hotel de la Coupole–MGallery (Sapa), InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort (Da Nang), and JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort (Phu Quoc), respectively, marked a special winning with the following awards: "The World's Leading Design Hotel"; “The World's leading eco-friendly resort”; and “The World's Leading Luxury Wedding Resort”.

At the same time, Sun World Fansipan Legend - a famous tourist resort, was honored for the fourth time in a row with the double award of "The World's leading cultural tourist destination" and "The leading natural landscape in the world".

Sun World Ba Na Hills in Da Nang continues to affirm its fascination by winning three awards: "The World's leading cable car system", "The world's leading iconic tourist attraction", and "The World's leading iconic tourist bridge" for the Golden Bridge.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 and it is held annually to honor the world's top destinations and the best service providers in travel and tourism. It was once likened by the Wall Street Journal as the "the Oscar of the world tourism industry" for the fact that businesses and destinations that are awarded by the WTA shall process great significance to the tourism development of the countries.

Mr. Dang Minh Truong - Chairman of the Group's Board of Directors shared his feelings when Sun Group's works were honored at WTA 2022: "This is not the first time the World Travel Awards honor Sun's works and products. However, this honor is still as intact to us as the day InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort - Sun Group's first project was awarded the World's Leading Luxury Resort award. Since then, Sun Group's work has recorded more pride year by year, not only for Sun Group but also for the localities where the Group invests. These awards are still a great encouragement to Sun Group to constantly strive to beautify the lands, bring to Vietnamese people quality, unique and different works, and products, and at the same time, contribute to improving and affirming Vietnam's tourism position in international arena".

Over the years, Sun Group's tourism, resort, and entertainment infrastructure projects have been constantly honored anywhere not only by WTA but also by lots of prestigious international award organizations and the world's leading travel magazines.

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has won hundreds of awards over the past ten years. This resort and JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay in Phu Quoc have become the number 1 choice among world politicians and billionaires in Vietnam. In Sapa, Hotel de la Coupole-MGallery has contributed to creating a new level for the town in the mist. The unique design of this hotel is continuously praised by international organizations and the press, along with the frequented address of luxury guests when visiting Sapa.

Sun World Ba Na Hills has become a symbol of Da Nang tourism and Vietnam thanks to the scale and such unique experiences that this resort brings. Especially, the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills has contributed to making Da Nang a must-visit destination for numerous domestic and foreign tourists.

As for Sun World Fansipan Legend, Sapa tourism has recorded outstanding progress in visitor growth and tourism revenue. The presence of Sun World Fansipan Legend since 2016 has helped Sapa tourism accelerate. After four years, ‏‏the number of visitors to Lao Cai increased by 144%. At the end of 2019, the province's tourism revenue was VND 19,200 billion, four times higher than in 2016. In 2022, the total number of tourists coming to Sapa as of September is estimated at 2,000,000 arrivals, an increase of 242% over the same period; revenue of 5,997,789 billion VND, up 222.3% over the same period, equaling 70.8% compared to 2019.

Along with Sun Group, many Vietnamese businesses were also honored in WTA 2022. Vietnam Airlines was awarded the "World's Leading Cultural Airline" and Vietravel won the title of "World's Leading Group Tour Operator".

In the award ceremony this year, alongside with the "World's Leading Heritage Destination" award dedicated for Vietnam tourism, plenty domestic destinations are also on the list for the first time. Hanoi, Moc Chau and Tam Dao were respectively honored as "The World's Leading Cities for Short-Day Tourism", "The World's Leading Regional Nature Destination 2022" and "The World's Leading Town Destination", respectively."

Especially, Phu Quoc was named "The world's leading attractive natural island 2022".

This is such a marvelously well-deserved award for Pearl Island. This place possesses such a warm climate all year round, with white sand beaches, crystal clear blue water, unspoiled cliffs, and primeval forests full of flowers, which have been praised for their beauty like other world tourist paradises, such as Maldives or Boracay. The famous American magazine TIME once honored Phu Quoc in the top 100 most wonderful destinations in 2021. In 2022, Pearl Island was honored among the top 25 most beautiful islands in the world by the famous travel magazine Travel+Leisure, the section of World's Best Awards. With the "World's leading attractive natural island 2022" award by "World Tourism Oscar", Phu Quoc further affirms its unique attraction and promises to take the throne of many islands soon and become Asia's new island paradise.

The promotion of Vietnam's destination in the international arena over the years is said to have contributed significantly to businesses, especially after a long period of being affected by Covid-19. As commented by Mr. Graham Cooke, President of the WTA World Travel Awards: “Over the past decade, Vietnam's tourism industry has had various developments compared to most regions in the world. Some innovative ideas have been acknowledged by corporations like Sun Group; some ideas are still being developed in Phu Quoc and other provinces. This has shown the awareness and macro-thinking of the Vietnamese people when working on the tourism product development strategy. And I believe that the reputation of Vietnam's tourism will rise to new heights".
