HCM CITY — Agricultural company Lộc Trời Group signed an agreement with UAE-based food company Phoenix Group in Dubai on Thursday for sustainable rice production in Việt Nam.

Under the agreement, around 10,000 smallholder farmers in Việt Nam will benefit by developing sustainable rice production on 10,000ha of land.

The two sides agreed there is plenty of opportunity to produce traceable high-quality rice and reduce chemical residues in it to increase farmers’ incomes and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

"It also aims to help smallholder farmers adapt and reduce the impacts of climate change and natural disasters," he said.

Phoenix Group chairman Gaurav Dhawan said the tie-up would help expand his company’s presence in Việt Nam.

“At the same time, we will support Lộc Trời Group promote Vietnamese rice in the global market.”
