HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam team ranked eighth at the FIDE World Women’s Team Championship, which wrapped up in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, on June 26.

The team lost to Poland 1.5-2.5 in the last round.

Phạm Lê Thảo Nguyên, who has an Elo rating of 2344, beat Poland’s No. 1 player Monika Socko (Elo 2485) after 57 moves.

Võ Thị Kim Phụng (Elo 2378) tied with Jolanta Zawadzka (Elo 2426).

Meanwhile, Nguyễn Thị Mai Hưng (Elo 2301) lost to Klaudia Kulon (Elo 2381) and Lương Phương Hạnh (Elo 2208) lost to Joanna Majdan-Gajewska (Elo 2366).

After nine rounds, Việt Nam had 16 points to rank eighth. Hosts Russia bagged the title with 25.5 points. — VNS
