Two men die of COVID complications

BẮC GIANG — Two elderly men, aged 88 and 82, have died of COVID-19 complications taking the total number of fatalities to 72.

Both patients had severe underlying medical conditions.

The 88-year-old was from Việt Yên District in Bắc Giang Province. With a history of hypertension, he tested positive for COVID-19 on June 13 and was treated at Bắc Giang Provincial General Hospital.

After responding poorly to treatment, he was transferred to intensive care at Bắc Giang Psychiatric Hospital.

Due to his advanced age, and chronic health conditions, he died on June 22. Cause of death has been recorded as severe pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 complicated by progressive respiratory failure, septic shock and multi-organ failure in a patient with hypertension.

On the same day, at the same hospital, an 82-year-old also died of COVID complications.

The man lived in Yên Dũng District, Bắc Giang, and had a history of hypertension, gout and diabetes and tested positive for COVID-19 on June 5.

His cause of death has been recorded as severe pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 complicated by progressive respiratory failure, septic shock and multi-organ failure in a patient with hypertension, gout and diabetes. VNS
