The parents of Nguyễn Đỗ Y Khoa clearly believe in self-fulfilling prophecies.

Eighteen years ago they gave their child a name that means 'pass on medicine', and now, he's on track to enter the medical field.

Nguyễn Đỗ Y Khoa made social media waves when he passed the HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy entrance exam with a high score.

On October 8, the list of new students of HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy included Y Khoa, with an overall score of 29.4 out of 30.

He seems to be on the way to fulfilling his parents' dream for him to become a doctor.

While it's not uncommon for parents to choose a name with a special meaning, it's normally related to success, happiness, luck, or good qualities, not something so tangible as a career in medicine.
