ĐÀ NẴNG — One more person has died in Việt Nam of COVID-19 related complications, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyễn Trường Sơn announced on Monday evening.
The total number of deaths related to coronavirus in Việt Nam now stands at 14, three of them on Monday alone.
The latest death is a 66-year-old man (known as patient 436) who lived in central Đà Nẵng City's Cẩm Lệ District. He was suffering from end-stage chronic renal failure and repeated cardiac arrest at Đà Nẵng Hospital.
From July 6-27, the patient was treated at the hospital. He tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on July 26.
He was transferred to the Centre for COVID-19 Quarantine and Treatment of Huế Central Hospital No 2 on July 28. He was diagnosed with severe COVID-19 pneumonia and end-stage chronic renal failure.
On August 2, the patient was placed on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support and underwent dialysis.
On August 7, he fell into a coma and was pronounced dead at 9.00 am on August 10. — VNS
