NGHỆ AN — A whirlwind ripped the roofs from 50 houses in Nghệ An Province, reported online newspaper vov.vn.
The strong whirlwind occurred yesterday evening in Châu Thôn Commune of Quế Phong District. Hail was also reported.
According to local authorities, the whirlwind lasted 15 minutes, damaging several hectares of orchards and crops.
Trees were also knocked down, causing problems for traffic.
Vi Văn Chín, chairman of Châu Thôn Commune, said the local authority had sent workers to each village to estimate losses and help anyone affected.
“At present, we have reached five villages, where we found 50 houses damaged,” Chín said.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
