HÀ NỘI — Ten of Việt Nam’s most outstanding young people were honoured in a ceremony on Tuesday evening in Hà Nội.

The honourees are Miss Universe Việt Nam 2017 H’hen Niê for her achievements in the field of culture and arts; Nguyễn Đức Thành and Vòng Bình Long for their achievements in scientific research; Nguyễn Phương Thảo for excellent academic results and Văn Đinh Hồng Vũ in the field of trading and starting-ups. Trần Văn Thuyết was honoured in the field of production, Nguyễn Quang Hải was the outstanding person in sports and Nguyễn Văn Thuận was honoured in defence. Lê Trọng Hiếu was the best in the field of security and Lê Đình Hiếu was honoured for social activities.

Last year, the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee asked the Fund for Vietnamese Young Talents to choose 10 outstanding young people in different fields. After reviewing 139 proposals, the 10 winners were chosen.

Lauding the honourees for their achievements, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình said they had enthusiastically followed late President Hồ Chí Minh’s teachings and contributed to the country’s development.

The Deputy PM said he was happy that the outstanding young people were from different fields, and some of them were ethnic minorities.

Bình said receiving the title was quite an honour, and the recipients should be proud. He said he hoped the young people would remain aware of their lofty responsibility and mission, and would continue to study and practice.

They should nurture their dreams and continue to shine and contribute to society, he said.

Bình said he hoped the country would have many more excellent examples in different fields.

The annual award is organised by the central youth union on the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment day of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union on March 26. The award aims to honour youths under 35 years old with excellent achievements in protecting and building the country. — VNS
