NGHỆ AN — On Monday, border guards in the central province of Nghệ An captured a smuggler carrying 4,800 synthetic drug tablets near the border with Laos.
The drug smuggler is identified as Lô Văn Đức, 29, from Kỳ Sơn District’s Mỹ Lý Commune, vietnamplus.vn reported.
He was arrested by border guards from Hạnh Dịch border point on Monday night in Quế Phong District’s Kim Sơn Township while carrying the drugs.
The case is under further investigation.
On Sunday, police in Điện Biên Province captured two people from Điện Biên Đông District who were illegally transporting six cakes of heroin.
The arrested smugglers were Lầu A Câu and Lầu A Nụ, who reside in Nà Sản A Village of Xa Dung Commune.
The police also seized a motorbike, three mobile phones, one hand-made gun and some bullets.
At the police station, the two subjects claimed they had bought the drugs in the Việt Nam-Laos border area from a person from Myanmar.
