HÀ NỘI More researches on labour, social issues and labour market supply and demand should be conducted and more instruction should be given to vocational training.

This was said by Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Đào Ngọc Dung on Tuesday afternoon at a conference of the Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs (ILSSA).

Dung said the researches and instruction would help reduce the unemployment problem of recent years.

At present, the country has some 54 million workers and nearly 2,000 vocational training centres and schools. However, many schools cannot enrol trainees. And many trainees do not get a job after graduating from the schools, so unemployment remains high.

According to Dung, the labour market supply and demand do not agree with each other because research on the issue do not reflect the reality

“With the role of a research institute which gives advice to the ministry, the institute should conduct more researches,” Dung said.

He added that researchers of ILSSA should think of different questions, including what needs to be renewed in research and what should be the breakthrough.

Đào Quang Vinh, director of ILSSA, said the institute would conduct different researches on renewing vocational training to meet the demand of international integration and solve labour issues while Việt Nam joined the ASEAN economic community and signed trade agreements.

The researches will strive to cover new issues and wider sectors in the new era and supply theoretical and real evidence to set up and complete policies on the issues.

In the past 40 years, ILSSA has conducted numerous researches, including Việt Nam’s labour market forecast for 2017-20, social welfare, social security, pension, poverty reduction and social skills in the fourth industrial revolution or Industry 4.0. VNS
