LẠNG SƠN — One person was killed and four others injured in a road accident on National Highway 1A in Lạng Sơn Province on Wednesday, after a container crashed into a truck.

The accident occurred around 9.30am near Mai Sao Commune in the northern province’s Chi Lăng District.

Local residents told kenh14.vn that after the container crashed into the truck which was going in the same direction, it also hit a four-seater car that was travelling in the opposite direction before it came to a stop.

Three motorbikes that were close to the container had to brake suddenly, killing one person on the spot and leaving four injured. Three vehicles were seriously damaged in the collision.

The traffic police arrived at the scene soon after and transferred the injured to the hospital and started regulating traffic. However, the accident paralysed traffic on the highway 1A for several hours.

Locals said speeding and a slippery road might have led to the accident. Investigations are on. — VNS
