HẬU GIANG — Three working teams from the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption yesterday began their inspection of anti-corruption work in Phú Yên, Hậu Giang and Bắc Ninh provinces.

The teams are among seven working groups established in late May by Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, who is also head of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption (CSCA), to inspect the investigation and judgment of serious and complicated corruption cases of public concern.

The team for the southern province of Hậu Giang is led by Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyễn Hòa Bình. Between now and October 20, the delegation will inspect the standing board, interior commission and inspection committee under the provincial Party Committee, the provincial inspectorate, the standing board of the provincial public security force’s party committee, the Party committee of the provincial People’s Procuracy, the provincial civil judgment enforcement agency, the taxation department and the Party committee of Phụng Hiệp district.

Difficulties and measures to improve the efficiency of detecting and dealing with corruption cases would be improved through the inspection, Bình said.

The team to the south central province of Phú Yên is led by Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy Lê Minh Trí. At a working session yesterday with provincial Party officials, Trí said the team would examine the provincial Party leadership over the discovery and settlement of corruption cases, the confiscation of ill-gotten assets and cooperation between relevant units in dealing with corruption.

The team would also inspect the co-ordination of agencies in discovering and dealing with corruption cases. Lương Minh Sơn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also reported its instructions on the work of inspection, investigation and trial of corruption cases in the province from 2011 to June 2016.

Sơn mentioned the difficulties and obstacles in directing the work on monitoring, detection and handling of local economic cases of corruption.

He also stressed that efficiency in fighting corruption in some local units were not high due to a lack of direction.

Phan Đình Lạc, chief of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, led the inspection team yesterday and also had a meeting with local authorities of Bắc Ninh Province to check the investigation and prosecution of economic corruption cases in the province.

He asked local authorities to closely co-ordinate with the team to inspect local units on implementation of the Party’s direction on fighting cases of corruption as well as investigation and prosecution of corruption in the province.

Through inspections, shortcomings and experiences in handling local corruption would be improved, Lạc said. — VNS
