HCM CITY— Chợ Rẫy Hospital has successfully conducted skin graft surgery on a patient with serious cellulitis in the groin region.
It was the first time that the hospital had admitted such a serious cellulitis case, doctors said.
The 54-year-old patient of Bình Thuận Province had diabetes type 2, chronic hepatitis B, cirrhosis and a right hepatic tumour.
Dortor Ngô Đức Hiệp, head of the hospital’s Burn and Plastic Surgery Ward, said the patient had scratched his groin to relieve the itching caused by chronic hepatitis B and cirrhosis.
The chronic hepatitis B had worsened the cellulitis, Hiệp said.
Doctors in 10 specialised wards worked together during the surgery, he added.
The patient has been discharged from the hospital. --VNS
