NGHỆ AN — Military forces in the central province of Nghệ An on Monday successfully disposed of a wartime bomb whose detonator was still intact weighing 340kg.
On May 7, a man discovered an object resembling a bomb of over one metre long while plowing a field in the C4 area of the Ba Hàng Hill in Nam Đàn District’s Nam Nghĩa Commune.
Immediately, the incident was reported to local authorities. The Nam Nghĩa Military Command swiftly deployed forces to cordon off the area and organised round-the-clock patrols, preventing people and livestock from approaching.
The explosive object was identified as a Mark 82 low-drag general-purpose bomb used by the United States' army, measuring 35cm in diametre and 155cm in length. It was then transported to the Nam Đàn shooting range area for a safe disposal. — VNS
