BẠC LIÊU — Residents at a house in the southern province of Bạc Liêu found an unwanted guest in their garden – a 1.6 metre long crocodile!
The reptile had crawled into the yard in Long Thạnh Commune, Vĩnh Lợi District on Sunday. People living in the area managed to catch the crocodile, which weighed around 20 kilograms.
Tuấn, one of the people who caught the unwanted visitor, said that around 1am, neighbours called him to tell him that there was a crocodile in front of the yard, near the gate of a local house.
“Three other people and I caught and tied up the crocodile,” he said.
“If there was no fence, the crocodile would have crawled into the river right in front of my house.”
According to local authorities, it is still a mystery how the animal ended up in the garden, although some crocodiles have been sighted in the past in ponds and canals in the area.
Officials have warned people to take extreme precautions if they come face-to-face with a large reptile in the future and to alert the authorities. — VNS
