HÀ NỘI — Minister of Education and Training Nguyễn Kim Sơn held a working session with representatives from Britannica Education in the US on September 21.
Britannica Education is the world's largest encyclopedia publishing organisation. With a large repository of educational resources, including e-learning resources, this organisation is coordinating with many countries and territories to implement digital transformation in education.
At the working session, Minister Sơn expressed his interest in the field of testing, science of assessment, and particularly in improving the quality of education, including the teaching and learning of foreign languages and information technology.
He stressed that having good and full educational resources is very important for students.
At present, the educational resources for Vietnamese students have been improved but are still limited, particularly in remote and mountainous areas. Therefore, the education sector has a plan to prioritise resources and policies to develop the system of school libraries and increase educational materials.
Minister Sơn said he wished to receive support from Britannica Education to increase educational resources, particularly materials for students to study foreign languages, information technology and issues relating to cultures of other countries in the world.
He proposed the organisation provide Việt Nam with assistance in educational materials, tools and skills and help Việt Nam to expand and improve the quality of foreign language teaching and learning to help students better integrate into the world.
A representative from Britannica Education affirmed that this is not a challenge only for Việt Nam but for many other countries in the world and affirmed that the organisation is willing to support Việt Nam in the educational issues proposed by Minister Sơn. — VNS
