HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam recorded 23,012 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, according to the health ministry.
The capital city of Hà Nội continues to lead in new daily infections with 1,677, closely followed by the northern province of Phú Thọ, with 1,279.

As of April 14, the daily average over the past seven days is at 27,914, half the figure seen the previous week (55,374).
To date, the country has recorded 10,320,599 COVID-19 infections, putting it 12th of 227 countries and territories worldwide.
85,633 recoveries were registered, pushing the total number of people given the all-clear in Việt Nam to 8,856,627.
1,161 COVID-19 patients are in serious condition, with 30 requiring non-invasive mechanical ventilation and three on life support.
Việt Nam also recorded 23 COVID-related deaths in Cao Bằng (3), Khánh Hòa (3), Bình Định (2), Đắk Lắk (2), Gia Lai (2 in 2 days), Bến Tre (1), Cần Thơ (1), Đồng Nai (1), Đồng Tháp (1), Hà Giang (1), Hải Dương (1), Hậu Giang (1), Kiên Giang (1), Nghệ An (1), Phú Thọ (1), Trà Vinh (1), bringing the total fatalities from COVID-19 in Việt Nam to 42,901, or 0.4 per cent of the confirmed caseload.
A total of 208,967,215 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Việt Nam so far, including 17,228,930 for children aged 12-17 years.
Nearly 100 per cent of the adult population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with booster shot coverage at 51 per cent.
Việt Nam today also commenced its vaccination drive for children aged 5-11 years, starting first with 200 sixth-graders in the northern province of Quảng Ninh. They received Moderna shots. VNS
