HÀ NỘI — The Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Acting President, the Government and the Central Committee of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front have issued a special communiqué, announcing President Trần Đại Quang died at 10:05am on September 21, 2018, and his funeral will feature a period of national mourning.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Việt Nam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam, and the Central Committee of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front decided to hold the funeral of the late President Trần Đại Quang with national mourning etiquette.
He will be laid in state at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Trần Thánh Tông Street, Hà Nội.
The respect-paying ceremony will start at 7am on Wednesday at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Trần Thánh Tông Street, Hà Nội.
The memorial service will be held at 7:30am on Thursday at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Trần Thánh Tông Street, Hà Nội. The burial ceremony will take place from 3:30pm on the same day at the Hamlet 13, Quang Thiện Commune, Kim Sơn District, Ninh Bình Province.
At the same time, at the Thống Nhất Hall in HCM City and the Hall of the People’s Committee of Kim Sơn District, respect-paying and memorial ceremonies for the late president will also be held.
Việt Nam Television and Radio the Voice of Việt Nam will broadcast the ceremonies in Hà Nội, HCM City and Ninh Binh live.
During the two-day national mourning period on September 26-27, national flags will be flown at half-mast at State offices and public places, and recreational and entertainment activities will be suspended.
